How to get to Florence |
By airplaneFlorence is served by two airports ("Amerigo Vespucci" Airport, in Florence, and "Galileo Galilei" Airport, in Pisa) with daily flights to the major European and non-European countries, both of them linked to the city centre and its surroundings. Due to its position, right in the Centre of the country, however, Florence can easily be reached also from other important Italian airports (Bologna, Milano, Roma), well connected through high-speed trains (1h 30min). |
By trainYou can get to Florence easily by train from all Italian and European cities. There are several railway stations in the city, although the main one is Firenze Santa Maria Novella (SMN). Two companies provide services of high-speed railway transports: Trenitalia and Italo. |
By busYou can easily travel by bus, in Tuscany, using SITA buses. Buses are generally cheaper than trains. Long-distance buses are also available. |
By carGetting to Florence by car will be easy as the A1 highway (E35 Milano-Roma/E45 Roma-Napoli) connects the city with the North and the South of the country. Car-rental agencies are concentrated in the Borgo Ognissanti area. Parking in garages and parking lots are expensive, but you can always choose a parking place on the street for about 1 euro per hour. There are three parking colours, but you can only park on the blue spaces since white is for resident only, and yellow ones are reserved. |
